Q: Are you same-sex friendly?
A: Absolutely! My job is to document the love between two people, no matter their orientation.
Q: I know you said the shots are unlimited, but typically, how many shots do you take?
A: If I'm the only shooter, it's normally 500-600. If I have an assistant, there are normally between 800 and 1,000. Please keep in mind that this is an average. Actual numbers will depend on your event. Whether or not there is dancing, drinking, a lip-synced medley from the Pitch Perfect soundtrack, etc.
Q: How long after the wedding will be able to view proofs?
A: Usually 2-3 weeks, but I go through and pick a handful to edit and send right away so you can get them up on facebook, instagram, or whatever social media service you're in to.
Q: How long after selecting from the proofs will we receive our prints?
A: 10-14 days
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Photojournalistic
Q: Do you prefer formal portraits or candid photos, or a combination of both?
A: I like a combination of both formal and candid shots.
Q: What kind of camera do you use?
A: I upgrade my equipment every year and a half or so, but always with cameras, lenses and flashes from Canon's professional line.
Q: Do you bring back up equipment?
A: Always.
Q: Will you be able to visit my location in advance of the event to scout out shot locations?
A: I always make it a point to scout the location where I'll be shooting. I typically do it closer to the wedding at the time of day when the wedding will take place so I know what the lighting will be.
Q: How long do formal pictures typically take?
A: Formal shots between the ceremony and reception usually take around 30 minutes, depending on the size of the shot list and how many we're able to get knocked out before the ceremony.
Q: Will you work off a prepared shot list?
A: I have a list of the most common traditional shots that I take and encourage the bride and groom to add to it before the event so we are on the same page and can get it done as orderly as possible. Click here to download the list.
Q: Do you do any photo editing (black and white, sepia, touch ups, etc.)?
A: I will do black and white or sepia conversions on any size photos free of charge. I will touch up blemishes free of charge only on prints 5x7 or larger.
Q: Do you prefer black and white or color photos?
A: I feel different shots benefit differently from black and white or color. Sometimes the mood or setting of a particular photo is better expressed in black and white instead of color, and vice versa.
Q: Will you be able to shoot the rehearsal? Will this cost extra?
A: Assuming I'm not already booked the day of your rehearsal, I will be glad to shoot it. Rehearsal coverage does cost extra and is at an hourly rate.
Q: If you're ill, who will photograph our event?
A: My boss (me) doesn't allow time off for illness. Luckily, I only seem to get sick every couple of years, and it's always in late December or early January. On the slim chance I was on my deathbed, I would find a suitable replacement.
Q: What will your attire be?
A: I usually wear khaki slacks and a white button-up shirt or all black so that I blend in, but I always ask the bride and groom if they have a preference.
Q: Is a deposit required? How much?
A: 50% of the package you decide on is due at the time of booking.
Q: When is the balance due?
A: The balance is due on or before the day of the wedding.
Q: Do you accept credit cards?
A: Absolutely
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: The 50% deposit is nonrefundable but in the unfortunate event you need to cancel, I will be glad to give you a transferable credit for future use.
